The Gauger Family

My sister Mary lives in Tucson with her husband Ryan and their two boys Michael & Jack. Michael is two and a half and Jack is 11 months old. Mary and Ryan were married in our hometown of Duluth Minnesota and settled in Ryan’s hometown of Tucson Arizona where they started their family. Mary is epileptic and has suffered from seizures since she was about 7 years old. Her seizures began getting progressively worse in her early twenties and she lost her ability to drive. Although she has not been able to drive in a long time, she has always maintained her independence, not letting her seizures otherwise limit her possibilities and all the while maintaining a positive outlook on life. After Michael was born, Mary had a psychotic episode induced by her epilepsy and was hospitalized for a time. While she received excellent care from many wonderful medical professionals, this setback meant she could not care for her son without another adult present. The medical bills for this hospitalization are a burden they will have for a long time as they work to pay them off. Thru it all Ryan has been a loving and supportive partner, sacrificing more than I could imagine for my sister and their boys. His family in Tucson have given freely of themselves and their time in the almost daily needs of the Mary and the boys. As a recent recipient of the Baby Showers by Mail diaper service, I am nominating Mary and Ryan for this giveaway because my wife and I have realized the benefit of this service in saving time and money for busy parents. And it’s the least I can do to help from a distance.
